Rust proofing FAQ
Common questions about free assessments, preparation, rust repairs, underseal treatment, cavity wax and warranty inspections.
Do I need to book a free assessment?
You can usually pop in during weekday opening hours, but calling first is sensible if you are travelling from Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Bridgend or further afield.
Why is the initial assessment free?
It benefits both sides. We need to see the underside before giving useful advice, and you need to understand whether the vehicle needs simple treatment, deeper preparation or repairs.
Can you quote without seeing the vehicle?
We can give a broad guide, but accurate pricing needs an underside inspection. Hidden corrosion, old underseal and trapped debris can change the work required.
How long does rust proofing take?
Most treatments take around three days when the vehicle is straightforward. Heavy preparation, drying time, welding or fabrication can extend this significantly.
Why not just apply black Waxoyl over the rust?
Coating over active corrosion can hide the problem rather than fix it. Our process is based on preparation first, then protection.
Do you repair bodywork?
The main service is underside rust treatment and protection. We are not a body shop, and any exterior sill or visible treatment is agreed separately on a best-effort basis.
Is the rust proofing guaranteed?
Yes, rust proofing workmanship is guaranteed for five years subject to annual inspection and fair usage. Damaged underseal and cavity wax top-ups are checked during inspection.
Does the warranty transfer if I sell the vehicle?
Yes, as long as the paperwork and service record are supplied to the new owner and the annual inspection requirements are kept up.
Do you cover all of Wales?
The workshop is in Llandow near Cowbridge. Customers travel from across Wales, especially Cardiff, Bridgend, Swansea, Newport, Caerphilly and the Vale of Glamorgan.
